A Girl & Her Dog!

We believe in order to secure the future of showing dogs, we must begin to cultivate the next generation of handlers/trainers. That is why Heaven's Hills sponsors The High-Q 4H Club of Polk County, Florida.

This club has, in addition to other projects, an AKC dog project. The kids who participate in this particular project are all currently engaged in training and showing their dogs in the AKC in pursuit of titles.

We believe that dedication, teamwork, service, winning and especially the ability to fail and get back up again are all lessons that will serve our children well for the rest of their lives.

If you would like to be a part of the shaping and inspiring of one of these young handlers, just click on the photo and feel free to respond, or send an email to Hopey@HeavensHills.com.

Katie and Shine

Fun, fast and exiting, are just some of the reasons why showing dogs is my passion, and Heavensent Shekina Fire, aka “Shine”, is my world.

When I was ten years old I bought, raised and trained Shine. Now, three years later, we have obtained 16 titles and are currently working on titling in Open Obedience, RAE in Rally and our Excellent Std. and Jumpers in Agility.

In May of 2008 Shine will be having another litter of talented puppies to pay for my college education. I’ll keep you posted on our progress in the ring and I look forward to seeing you all at the shows.

UPDATE: On August 18-19 there was a show in St. Pete which Shine & I attended. We showed in Rally Adv/Ex and Open Obed. The Rally went well and we achieved two more legs towards our RAE, including one blue ribbon. Obedience, however, was lacking in the efforts and I was blessed when Kathryn Yates, a judge and mentor, gave me some advice on working Shine in heeling. I am showing at St. Pete again next weekend and with luck I will do better in obedience.

Kassidee and Zap

My name is Kassidee and I am 10 years old.  I have a black tri Australian Shepherd named Zap.  I am in the Hi-Q 4H Club in Babson Park Florida. I train Zap in Rally, Agility, and Obedience.  I started training in November 2006.

My goal is to get titles in Agility and Rally.  I have to practice a lot.  I practice at home, and with Mrs. Hopey and the Hi-Q 4H Club in Babson Park.

To meet my goal, I have to go and do more shows.  I learn more from every show I go to.  I also learned that sometimes you’re the bug and sometimes you’re the windshield.  When you get splattered you have to get up and work harder and try again!

UPDATE: On July 21-22 Zap and I went in the show ring for the very first time. I showed in Pre-Novice Obedience both days and got 2nd place on Saturday and 1st place on Sunday!   I also got an award for High Point Junior Handler on both days. It was a LOT of fun!

Zap and I competed in AKC Agility for the first time in December 07. We had a lot of fun and earned 2 first placements, one in Novice Standards, and one in Jumpers!

Kaylie and Trooper

Hi, my name is Kaylie and my best buddy Trooper is a black tri Australian Shepherd. He means the world to me!

Trooper and I began training with Mrs. Hopey in August 06. We started showing in Rally in April 07. Although Trooper and I enjoy Rally, our first love is Agility! We are currently training in Rally, Obedience and Agility and hope to enter our first AKC Agility show this fall.

My goal for the future is to finish out our current Rally Advanced level, and begin working on earning an Agility title!

UPDATE: Trooper and I finished his Rally Novice and Rally Advanced titles in September 07. We earned his CGC certification with the American Kennel Club in early November 07. We competed in our first AKC Agility Show in November 07! What fun! We have since earned Trooper's NA and NAJ Agility titles!
